Easter Is Not A Biblical Holiday
Easter is not a Biblical Holiday. Shock!? Yes, it’s true.
2,000 years before Jesus was born, there was a festival that was known in Babylon. The Babylonians worshipped a god named Tammuz who was brought back to the underworld by his father, Ishtar, pronounced “EASTER”. The eggs in the festival celebrated fertility. Ishtar was also the god of spring and his wife’s name was Venus who carried eggs to bring fertilitzation. The hare, bunny, was a symbol in the festival that was in respect for Tammuz’s favorite animal. Pagans worshipped bunnies to honor Tammuz and they brought baskets to the gods. All this was practiced every year by the Babylonians around the same time as Passover. Isthar, or Easter, in other words is a pagan fertility bunny god.
It has converted to become an American holiday that the Christians have adopted. This concept is the same with Christmas. The celebration of Easter was once forbidden in America until perhaps 200 years ago. A law was passed to allow Americans celebrate “Ishtar”. (I might have the years wrong but it was against the law to celebrate Easter– bunny, egg, baskets, etc– in America at one point.)
Now, all this, it is real funny to see Christian parents lie and cover up to children and tell them the Easter, “Isthar” Bunny, is coming on Sunday morning with candies. The children put their basket and go to bed excitely waiting for the bunny to show up and fill their baskets with candies and gifts. Unbeknowingly to them, they are livening up the traditions of the god Ishtar.
The Catholic Church, the same thing with Christmas, wanted more congregation– so they adopted the pagan’s holiday as a compromise. Since Isthar was resurrected on a Sunday, the Catholic Church changed and declared that Jesus resurrected on a Sunday. Easter is revolved around the Catholic church’s traditions such as Ash Wednesday and Lent. Neither has been mentioned in the Bible nor was it a commandment to celebrate it. The word Easter is used ONCE in the Bible In Acts 12:4. You can look in your bible. The greek word for that word “Easter” is pascha. What Pascha really means is Passover. Some say the Catholic church changed the Passover term to Easter. I really don’t know exactly how the word Easter ended up in KJV but other translation such as NKJV and etc put back the correct word. Passover.
So, Easter absolutely has nothing to do with Jesus’s death nor his resurrection but, instead, is a pagan festival worshipping the gods.
The early Christians, INCLUDING Jesus always celebrated Passover. It is a ceremony with different rituals and food. If you haven’t been to a Messanic Passover, I encourage you to try to attend one. It is a beautiful ceremony. This year’s Passover does not fall on the same weekend as Easter. Passover is always followed by the Jewish Calendar and will be on April 20th. It was God’s desire that His children celebrate Passover forever. He wanted the story of the Exodus be told to all generations.
“So you shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread, for on this same day I will have brought your armies out of the land of Egypt. Therefore you shall observe this day throughout your generations as an everlasting ordinance.” -Exodus 12:17
And Jesus says to do so in the New Covenant.
“And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” -Luke 22:17
Now, about Jesus’ death, the Jews asked Jesus for a sign that He is the Messiah. Jesus says that the sign would be that he would die and resurrect after three days and three nights. SPECIFICALLY He said THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS. If Jesus resurrected 2 days and 1 night. HE IS NOT THE MESSIAH. That’s another god…. I am looking for the Messiah that died and rose after 3 days and 3 nights.
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. -Matthew 12:4
The Catholic church, which many many Christian church have mistakenly followed says Jesus died on a Friday (Good Friday) and resurrected on a Sunday. That’s 1 day and TWO nights. It’s half filled. That’s false Messiah– I’m not interested in any false Messiah who cannot FULFIL 100% 3 days and 3 nights. If He was not in the ground three days and three nights, then He is a liar and not truly the Son of God. God forbid Jesus knew there was 12 hours in a day (John 11:9-10). He’s not dumb.
Easter tradition denies the gospel and the very sign that Jesus Christ gave of His identity as the Son of God.
What many people do not know is that Jesus is our Passover lamb. I will share the story of the Jesus’ death. You will see scriptures appear as a caption. I encourage you to go to your bible and read the scriptures. I do not have much time to share ALL the scriptures. Remember, the Jewish Calendar, according to God, a new day starts at sunset, not midnight.
1) Wednesday sunset, (new day) Jesus ate the Passover with His disciples on the evening of the fourteenth by Moses’ law (Ex 12:6-8; Matt 26:17-20; Mark 14:12-17; Luke 22:7-15).
2) Wednesday morning, group say crucify him. Pilates beat him and the crucifixion began at 9:00 AM, and Jesus died after the darkness ended at 3:00 PM (Matthew 27:45-50; Mark 15:25,33-37; Luke 23:44-49).
3) Before sunset on Wednesday, Jesus was buried hurriedly as the preparation day ended and the high Sabbath day was about to begin (Mark 15:42; Luke 23:54; John 19:14,31,42).
In Leviticus , there is a day of Sabbath (not SATURDAY), and that is during the week of Passover. Thursday of this week was a Sabbath and the Jews stayed home.
4) Thursday, The women who followed Jesus rested the high Sabbath day of the Passover before buying and preparing their spices (Mark 16:1 cp Exodus 12:16).
5) Friday afternoon, The women bought their spices and prepared them on the regular workday between the two Sabbaths days this week (Mark 16:1 cp Luke 23:55-56).
6) Saturday (Sabbath), The women rested during the weekly Sabbath day after buying and preparing their spices the previous workday (Luke 23:55-56 cp Exodus 20:10).
7) Sabbath evening, Jesus rose from the dead as the weekly Sabbath ended – three days and three nights after burial – as prophesied (Matthew 12:39-40; Mark 8:31).
Sunday morning, While it was still dark, the morning of the first day of the week, the women found the tomb already empty (Matt 28:1-6; Luke 24:1-3; John 20:1).
The gospel record of Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection prove His identifying sign of three days and three nights (Matthew 12:39-40). Anyone holding to a Friday crucifixion and/or a Sunday morning resurrection is denying the very sign Jesus gave to prove He was the Son of God.
Ask yourself. Do you know who you are worshipping? Easter, the false Messiah or Passover, the TRUE MESSIAH.
