Kingdom Life: Light
February 1st, 2010 |
Hello everyone!
Imagine yourself inside a building, a tall building, and you are in the basement with your friends and co-workers fiddling about doing things there. While being there, suddenly the electricity goes off and it is pitch black– completely dark where you are. There are no back-up lights. Nothing. It’s very dark where you are in. No one can see anything. People are moving everywhere. Things become more complicated as you try to find an exit. Dark. Black. 1 hour passes by and then two and it is still very dark. People are still moving around touching the walls trying to find the exit. They cannot find the exit. Black. Pitch Dark. BLACK. More hours passes by and there are no lights and then it becomes a day since you have seen light. Two days. People are still moving around looking for an exit. Touching of walls continue to happen as people look for light. They wait and wait. Suddenly you notice that the ceiling breaks apart and there is a dim of light! You are happy! As the ceiling gets pulled out, more light enter the basement and it becomes brighter and brighter. You are thrilled, so exicted that there is light~ you shout with joy! People are going to get out of the basement! Then all of a sudden, you notice someone looking at you strangely. Another one does the same, he looks at you strangely and taps someone else saying, “Look at him!” People are starting to look at you strangely. You stand there all perplexed, “Why are they looking at me strangely!?” Then you find out that they are looking at you because you are holding a flashlight and you say to yourself, “Ohhh, I have a flashlight in my hand!” You turn the flashlight off, then on, and off, on, off, on. And when you turn it off, people around shove, tap, hit your head, push you saying, “Hey! Turn the light back on!” Some people are saying, “Why didn’t you tell us you had a flashlight all these time!?”
You respond, “Oh, I umm…I…thought….”
Some people yell, “Hey! If you had told us you had a flashlight, we could have used the light to find the exit and we could have gotten out a long time ago! Why did not you turn the flashlights on all these time!? Why did you say nothing?”
You respond, “Oh, I umm…I…didn’t know….none of you asked me if I had a flashlight anyway! I didn’t know…so…no one asked me so I didn’t turn it on and I just didn’t do anything about it.”
People become angry at you for your insensitivity.
The rescuers up on the ceiling stares at you in wonderment…”you had a flashlight in your hands the whole time, man. You could have saved us from this hard work taking out the ceilings.”
You would say that this is foolish, right?
Those who are Believers, are “Christians”, those who live in the “Kingdom of YHWH” living for YHWH are the ones who have flashlights and are the ones who can turn it on. We are the ones who have the light that can tell people of the world how to escape. People of the world worry about the economy, sicknesses, diseases, no hope….
We have the light but we keep it off leaving others to scramble around for escape…we say of them, “Well, no one asked me how…so I’m saying nothing. They didn’t ask me anything about Yahushua so I went about my everyday ways. What’s wrong with that?”
Oh.
When Yahushua comes for the 2nd time, how do you think He will feel when he sees how we treat others?
Makes us think twice, right?
I had heard of this at church recently and I thought, ‘wow. that’s a good point.’
So, are our lights on? Is it on? Are we helping others find an escape or are we just passively waiting for people to make the move by asking us?
What do we think the King wants us to do?
“Let your light shine before men in such way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” -Matthew 5:16
“When YHWH says to the wicked, ‘You surely will die,” and you do not warn him to turn from his wicked way, that wicked man shall die in his inquity, but his blood I shall require at your hand…” -Ezekiel 3:18
